The LPGA is the first to dive into the major season with the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Lorena Ochoa is the defending champion after beating Annika Sorenstam and Suzann Pettersen by five shots.
Ochoa looks to continue the traditional jump into Poppy's Pond as she will face a very tight field this week. Suzann Pettersen, who has finished second here the last two years, has been playing very well lately and could spring into the top spot by the end of the week. Also looking to unseat Ochoa are Rolex Ranking's number two and three players - Yani Tseng and Jiyai Shin - who have both been at the top of leaderboards all season. Looking for her first major championship, Paula Creamer enters this week coming off an illness that forced her miss last week's event in Phoenix. Former champions to watch out for are Morgan Pressel, Juli Inkster and Karrie Webb, who won last week.
The Kraft Nabisco Championship has been played at the Mission Hills Country Club, the Dinah Shore Tournament Course, since 1972. Designed by Desmond Muirhead, the par 72, 6,673 yard course was designed to test all aspect of the players game, right up to the signature 18th hole. The final hole is a 646 yard par-5 that plays to an island green.
